Boy Scout Troop 309 Prepares for Second Annual Car and Bike Show

When: Saturday, October 15
Where: Chino, Ca
Registration: Show Registration

Boy Scout Troop 309 is preparing to bring to Chino their Second Annual Car and Bike Show on Saturday, October 15. After experiencing a great deal of success last year with their first car show, this year’s installment promises to be even better with separate divisions for cars, motorcycles, and working trucks. The car show will also feature vendor booths, a scale model builder’s contest, and live entertainment.

“This years show is on track to be a fun and exciting day, not only for the participants but for the scouts themselves. The scouts are looking forward to meeting the owners of these special vehicles and welcoming them with coffee and donuts. It is their way of saying thank you for supporting our program”; says Michael Rosas who in addition to initializing the car show is in his first year of serving as Troop 309’s Scoutmaster after five years as an Assistant Scoutmaster.

Boy Scout Troop 309 is currently made up by 60 young men who through the Scouting program have an opportunity to build leadership abilities, personal fitness, citizenship and character by having fun participating in a wide variety of troop activities. Recent troop outings and activities have included surfing and boogie boarding, snow boarding and skiing, white water rafting, a canoe trip starting from the foot of Hoover Dam, rock climbing, a wide variety of community service projects and of course camping. Troop 309’s scouts tend to be academically successful and also active participants in school activities and sports. Troop 309 meets Monday evenings at Gateway Church in Chino. The car and bike show helps raise much needed funds to keep the busy troop operating and to offset the costs associated with camping and outings.

Voted “Best of Show” by fellow participants at last year’s car show was a 1948 Plymouth owned by Gary Lindsley of Chino Hills. “Gary’s black '48 Plymouth was the hands down winner. The quality of the build was evident, not a single wire was visible in the polished engine compartment, the interior was stitched to perfection and the paint was flawless”; explains Scoutmaster Rosas.

Troop 309’s Second Annual Car & Bike Show will be held on Saturday October 15, 2011 (rain or shine) starting at 8:00a.m. at CrossPoint Church, 6950 Edison Avenue in Chino, near the corner of Euclid and Edison Avenues. Admission to the public is free.
