Playtime Foundation strives to create awareness, excitement, and opportunity for the custom car/truck culture to give back to the community through charitable works and contributions to our sponsored charities.
Playtime Foundation was created in 1999 by Tony Ramos who got the idea for the Choc Cruise by attending a similar event held by the Motorcycle Riders Association at Loma Linda Hospital. By Choc Cruise 3 Tony’s future wife Diana had joined as a founder of Playtime Foundation. Many clubs have hosted the Choc Cruise over the year including: Twisted Obsessions OC, Sunset OC, Reanimation, and Shoboat.
This year our host is MINI TRUCKIN MAGAZINE.
We are very proud of what we have accomplished over the years. Our Choc cruise started with just 100 cars in attendance and in recent years we had over 400 vehicles in attendance. As the years have past we have been able to not only bring cars and toys but Santa Clause as well.
The founding members are constantly looking forward to the future of the Choc cruise. Playtime Foundation has one goal to mix its love of children with its love of the car culture.
Our sponsored event for the hospital is known as the CHOC Cruise and takes place in December. Everyone participating is asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate. The foundation invites custom car enthusiasts and clubs from all over California to participate. In recent years the CHOC Cruise has even attracted clubs and individuals from other states. A wide array of vehicles can be seen at the cruise including: classics, mini-trucks, low riders, 4X4’s, and sport compact cars.
The CHOC Cruise has become one of the hospitals largest toy donators for Childrens Hospital. It is estimated the cruise provided around $50,000 in toy donations 2009. Families with children in the hospital often have a difficult time providing a Christmas for their child due to bills and absence from work. The donations provided by the cruise not only allows the hospital to give the children a toy at Christmas and every other major holiday as well as at the time of major procedures, operations, and upon checking out of the hospital. Better yet, the busy bustle of custom cars entertains and brightens the children’s day. For an hour or so the kids of CHOC hospital stop dwelling on their illness and become just that,
kids again.
